How To Care For Your Pink Shirt
STEP 1
When washing, make sure all shirt buttons are undone, including the cuffs. Turn the shirt inside out before putting in the washing machine.
STEP 2
If your shirt has stains, treat them immediately, targeting them with soap under cold water before washing. Lather the soap and leave it on the stain for a few minutes before rinsing it, then placing the shirt in the machine. If you can, avoid aggressive stain removers.
STEP 3
Should you use a biological powder, there’s no point in overdosing. Adding extra to the dispenser doesn’t improve the wash, it just increases the percentage of enzymes. It’s an aggressive act that actually dulls clothes.
STEP 4
Machine wash your shirt, make sure you read the care label to get the correct temperature
STEP 5
Air-dry shirts rather than tumble-dry, as the steel drum can cause damage over time
STEP 6
The shirt is still slightly damp. If it has fully dried, spray with water. Iron in this order: start with the collar, then cuffs, sleeves, yoke, front panels and finish with the back.
STEP 7
Pay special attention to ironing the collar, starting at the tip and moving to the centre at the back of the collar. It’s because the Pink collar is unfused, a traditional method that allows the collar to mould into the neck with each wear. Ironing the collar from tips to the centre is the best way to maintain its classic look. Do it the other way, and it could result in wrinkles at the tips.
STEP 8
When you are done, button your shirt onto wooden hangers, which prevent stretching and keep the shirt in its best shape. Place hangers at least an inch apart so the cotton can breathe, ready to be worn again.
