Many would argue being able to talk to anyone on earth is a superpower.
I used cold emails to raise $2,000,000 dollars from a Forbes Billionaire. When I sold the company, my initial outreach to the buyer was through a very strategic cold email. I got his email using this free tool.
But how do you get anyones email so you can finally open the conversation?
Are you a startup dying to get an article on Forbes and just need to know the reporters email?
Are you a podcast host struggling to find the email of the guest you really want to have on? I used the 10 tools below to get my first 10 podcast guests who helped me pass 5m total downloads.
Lastly, maybe you’re a sales person who needs to email lookup a prospect so you can close and beat your quota this month.
Below are the 10 tools I use for free to do an email lookup for anyone on earth.
10 Free Email Lookup Tools To Find Anyone’s Email And Get A Response
1. eTools (Free)
This is probably the easiest interface to use and I like it because you can look up 50 emails for free. Most of you won’t hit that number (I only use it about 20 times a month). You just type in the website you want emails for, and eTools spits out all the emails associated with that domain.
2. Send Later (Free)
Once you find the email you want with eTools, use SendLater to send. When I started using this tool, I got 3x as many replies to my emails compared to before I used the tool. For example, I use it to schedule emails to be sent later. If I want to get someones attention, I’ll write the email today and have it sent at 5am tomorrow morning so its at the top of their inbox in the morning.
Additionally, I set reminders on all of my sent emails: “If this email is not opened/replied to within 2 days, bring the email back to the top of my inbox”.
This saves brain space from being used to remember to follow up. This tool is exactly like Boomerang for Gmail or Followup.cc except is free, loads faster in my inbox, and has auto-followups.
3. Toofr (Free trial, then paid)
If you know the persons name and the website the person is associated with, Toofr is a strong tool. Simply plugin the name and the website and Toofr will spit out the persons email you need.
4. Email Hunter (Free then paid)
Go to the website of the business you want to reach and click the red target icon which is Email Hunter’s chrome extension. The tool will give you every email associated with that domain name. Copy the email you want to reach out to and if Email Hunter doesn’t give you 100% confidence, use MailTester below to verify the email address before sending the email.
5. EmailForCorporations (Free)
Go to their website, click the industry you’re looking to find anyones email in, navigate the list. This tool is not sexy but it’s free, requires no login, and gets the job done.
6. CEO Email Addresses (Free)
If you’re looking to email a CEO and can’t find their email address, use this tool to quickly find their email address. It isn’t sexy but gets the job done. Select the industry you want to look up, then click on the CEO’s name for his or her email.
7. SnapBird (Free)
The ultimate email address finder. Many people have shared their email or given clues to their email in a tweet before. SnapBird quickly finds any tweets with email related content and gives them to you. Many times, the twitter user you want to email has tweeted out their exact email before. Copy, paste!
8. MailTester (Free)
Once I have an email, but I’m not 100% sure its accurate, I always go to MailTester.com to plugin the email to see if its 100% real or not. This means incorrect:
This means correct (quick way to verify the email address):
Mailtester usually gives me a good indicator, but if not, I use one of the following 2 tools.
9. Email Breaker (Free)
Very similar to MailTester although sometimes Email Breaker will confirm an email that MailTester couldn’t. This has to do with how they are looking up emails on the backend. If one doesn’t work, try the other to verify the email address.
10. Email Checker (Free)
Plug in an email and this tool will tell you if its a real email or not. Similar to Email Breaker and MailTester. (I always use MailTester first and the other 2 as backup)
11. Datanyze (Free trial, no CC required, then paid)
If you’re looking for more than just an email finder tool, Datanyze is a good fit. It does exactly what Email Hunter does in addition to telling you alexa ranking, keyword bidding any website is using, and much more.
4 Clever Ways to Email Lookup Anyone On Earth
1. Use Conspire.com to figure out who you know that can introduce you to that person you really want to email. Simply plugin the name of the person you want to get connected with and Conspire will show you who you already know that you can ask for an intro.
2. Use this email checker excel file to get a list of potential correct email address. Take these emails and put them in Mailtester, Email Breaker, or Email Checker above to find which one is correct. This takes more time but comes closer to guaranteeing you’ll find the correct email address.
3. Facebook Fan Page about section. If you’re looking to contact a personal brand or celebrity, go to their Facebook page and click the about section. I’ve had luck finding emails there before.
4. Navigate to the persons Linkedin Profile then click “Email Hunter” (install the free Email Hunter chrome plugin) to instantly get an email from Linkedin.
Then click the red Email Hunter button to get the persons email. (Better than paying $40/mo for linkedin’s premium service – and email works way better than InMail!)
Now, just because you have someone’s email doesn’t mean you should forget cold-emailing 101. Remember to put together a subject line that is short and provokes curiosity, and the 3 part way to engineer your first email to get a response.
